Relaxing Sunday!

Well, just as expected, the kids had lots of stories about camp to share with us. I'm so happy they had a good experience there. We'll have to send a thank-you note to the camp letting them know in writing how much good they did.

A funny story about Julie. I've had a 'myspace' account since the kids moved in so that I can be one of their 'friends' and find out what they are up to and keep tabs on them. Just last week Julie also became a 'myspace' person (she says so that she can check up on her kids 'like a good mommy') When you create your page, you put a brief description of yourself to kind of introduce yourself and sum up who you are. Here was Julie's introduction: "I am who I am and if you dont like me for me........FUCK YOU........ Plus if you dont like me for me....... Im gunna tell my kids and there gunna kick yer ass!!!!!!!!!!!!" And here is my introduction: "I'm 38 years old. I have two amazing kids, Amanda who is 20 and Jonathan who is 13. I have great husband, Chris. I love to sing - and have been singing in Toast of Tampa Show Chorus for 10 years. I'm raising my nieces and nephew (12, 13 and 14). I love God and my family. "

Do you clearly see now the difference between Julie and myself??? Yeah.... crystal clear, huh?

Julie called here yesterday talking to the kids for no less than 3 hours. Talking about their day? No. Talking about camp? No. Talking about how much she misses them? No. She WAS talking about her Myspace account and how to make it cool. She talked to only one kid that whole time (Kayte) and never spoke with Justin or Kayla. Justin asked me last night why his mom didn't call and talk to him... I didn't know what to say........ I'll probably need to talk to Karen at some point about this. Oh, the other thing she did was... we told Kayte that she was not allowed to be on myspace yesterday. So... she called and talked to her mom and had her check her myspace and respond to her friends for her. That was about 1pm yesterday afternoon. Later, about 4pm (still on the phone) I'm sitting by Kayte and I hear her say something to me about myspace, and Julie says "you're not supposed to go on myspace today, right?" and I responded with "well, Julie, if you are going to log on for her, read all her stuff and respond to all of her friends for her, then it's a mute point that she not be able to get on, right?" I mean... we're here trying to make a difference for these kids... trying to discipline them... teach them... and Julie just does whatever the hell she wants to do. It just irks me something terrible. Between Kayte and Kayla, they have more than 500 friends on myspace. We're trying to figure out the best way to make it manageable... without completely taking away myspace. The kids definitely still have problems with excess.... I mean.... doing things too much. If they are on the computer, they are on it too much... if on a game, on the game too much....

We just got home from church - gosh I LOVE Van Dyke church! I did decide this morning to try out for the Praise Team and ordered a CD to sing along with. Jason... Chris said I shouldn't have shared my 'Inderal' story. Please keep in mind that was a very long time ago. **grin** I just know I enjoy music, singing, performing, and praising... so I'll try out and put it in God's hands as to whether or not this is something I should be doing. And a big 'thank you' to (I hope I get this name right...) Peggy for the Publix gift certificate today. It was very thoughtful and VERY much appreciated! I'm not very good at names... so please let me know if I have your name wrong. :o)

I can't blog long here today... we are on our way out to Adventure Island for the afternoon. Thank you all for your prayers and support.
