What a wonderful day we had on Sunday. Amanda went to Church with us in the morning. The choir sang wonderfully and really touched a lot of people with our songs of worship. Amanda finally met Pastor Matthew (and she didn't burst into flames as she thought she might)... he actually prayed for her with us... it was very nice. We then had lunch over our friends Denise & Arne's house. Jonathan had quartet rehearsal. I went shopping for those pants that Kayte and Jonathan both needed. What a great day!
Amanda's face looks SO much better. A little swollen, of course. But the bruising now looks like 'old bruising' and some of the wounds are beginning to heal already. She saw the doctor this morning (Monday) - only 5 days post injury - and it's looking so much better. The doctor took out the last suture today but had to re-open one of the wounds (that had started to heal) so the infection could continue to properly drain. Ick! I'm telling you... it MUST have been the power of prayer that has worked for this because I've never seen something like this heal that quickly. (And remember, I worked in a medical office for 16 years) Add to that the complications of the infection as well... and it's nothing short of a miracle. Thank you to each and every person who said a prayer for Amanda.
So - the kids! This is their first full week of school. I'm hoping that they step into routines very quickly without too much pushing on our part. They are doing well at getting up on their own, but need to work on doing homework immediately when they get home and on leaving all of their schoolwork on the dining room table for Chris and I to check/review. When they do what they are supposed to do without pushing from us, it runs smother at home.
Julie is coming to the house tonight - unsupervised. Let's hope and pray that this goes well. She has some things she wants to bring the kids, so I told her it would be okay. She tried to invite herself for dinner - but Amanda's boyfriend Gene is coming over to make us dinner. For several reasons (the biggest being that I simply don't WANT her to come over for dinner tonight) I told her she couldn't eat over. Besides - she'll be over late (after 8) and we do try to eat earlier than that. ESPECIALLY on a school night. Speaking of the devil... Julie is on the phone with me about dinner as I type this... she decided to go to Katie's for dinner. Katie (the good sister) is closing at Bennigan's tonight, so Julie is going to go there after she's done at my house. You have to KNOW Julie to truly understand how non-subtle she is about inviting herself over for dinner. It's really funny.
I didn't tell you that I'm a little under the weather today. Woke up not feeling well at all - slight fever, headache, and a VERY sore throat. I called out of work this morning, but ended up coming in about 11. Now I'm wishing I hadn't done that as I'm not feeling so well again. But I've gotta get better... too much to do!
Speaking of things to do, I should get going. I think I'm going home for the day anyways. I'll leave you with this quote:
"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon-instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today." --Dale Carnegie
